On day six of the Wimbledon championships the world number one Rafael Nadal lost the first set for the third match in a row, but won the game.

Spaniard Rafael Nadal beat the Mikhail Kukushkin from Khazakhstan. He won by 3 sets to 1, 6-7 (4-7) 6-1 6-1 6-1.

There are some ways to eliminate Nadal in 5 sets and one of them would shoot a submachine gun and then go to jail. Another is to have the courage to face the Spanish in his own territory and try to resist more than him, which only happens if he is lesioned or a bad day.

In the last three years at Wimbledon, Lukas Rosol and Steve Darcis beat Nadal, but the Spaniard was on a bad day.

In the eighth finals Nadal will face Australian Nick Kyrgios, number 144. If Nadal lost the first set again we'll make sure that he has acquired a new superstition.

The old quirks of Nadal

  • Before each match, Nadal positions his water bottles.
  • During the game, he drinks from them in a certain order.
  • Rafa places his hair behind each ear and fiddles with his shorts before every serve.
  • He also makes sure his opponent crosses the net before he does on a changeover.

Nadal's opponents hate and downplay his quirks and superstitions.

Fans love these superstitions and get angry when someone asks about it.

The Czech player Lukas Rosol who beat Nadal at Wimbledon in 2012, and surprisingly took the first set against the world No. 1 on Thursday, was caught on camera knocking over Rafal’s water bottles during a fourth-set changeover.
